I have been seeing an unfamiliar (to me) fruit in the store lately. It's called a Red Pummelo and they are SO yummy . I finally decided that I would try them and picked up some today on the way home from the beach at one of our favorite farmer's markets. I am SO glad that I did! They were quite tasty and had some great "features" that some of you might find pretty neat too. They have a "flowery" citrus taste--not definitively an orange OR a grapefruit taste...it definitely has it's own taste. The one thing that was pretty cool was that the fruit is juicy when you eat it, but it's not messy to cut up, like an orange or a grapefruit. Once you get the rind off, you are left with as much fruit equal to a large grapefruit, plus another half. If you like citrus fruit and see them in your local store...try one! They should be fragrant when you buy them,
so make sure that you give it a smell first. This is what they look like compared to a lemon and a lime.
leave me a comment and let me know if you try them (or have tried them before). Enjoy!!
