Ephesians 5:23
"For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is head of the church, his body, of which, He is the Savior." (NIV)
"For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body." (NKJV)
"Wives, understand and support your husbands in ways that show your support for Christ. The husband provides leadership to his wife the way Christ does to His church, not by domineering but by cherishing. So just as the church submits to Christ as he exercises such leadership, wives should likewise submit to their husbands." (The Message) (v 22-24)
I love that my husband is the leader of our home. I love that he loves me like Christ loves the church and that as a result, he has the desire to want to pray with me. Now with that said, we are not perfect, nor do we live in a perfect world. It would be unrealistic to think that we would pray together over every single solitary thing and at just the right time, each time. But what I do know is that God put the desire in both of us to serve Him. Further, He put the desire in my husband to love me as Christ loved the church and He put the desire in both of us to want to spend time together in prayer and devotion. The expectations here do not need to become so unrealistic that we set ourselves up to fail. However, we need to be realistic, pray together when we are led to and over whatever the Lord puts on our hearts, and when we are able to. When we are not praying together, then we can always do what we are instructed to do for each other as it's written in Galatians 6:2 "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ".
In addition to The Lord giving us the incredible ability to commune with Him intimately through prayer in our own prayer closets, He has promised us in Matthew 18:20 that "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." What an incredible promise, and probably one of the ones that I love more than anything. I want to be where my Lord is. I want to be where my husband is also. What better place than to be with them together!
I pray that those reading this would also know an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. If you are not sure if you have a relationship with Jesus as your Savior and would like to know more about the free gift of salvation, you can read more about that here.
